Parvovirus
This gets deadly fast. Your pup is just a baby without all his puppy shots. We give the first 2 of 4 shots. I takes 2 weeks for each shot to take effect. So when the pups leave us pup has 2 shots but 2nd shot is given right before they leave. Thus your pup is operating on 1 shot for 2 weeks. So, Two weeks later pup is finally got two good shots in him or her. Three weeks from the second shot on the shot record we give you , the 3rd shot is due. Three weeks from 3rd shot the last shot is given. Parvovirus spreads through feces. Do not go to dog parks, limit access to unknown dogs who may not be fully vaccinated. Do not let outside on unknown ground. Think before you put pup down. Backyard fenced yard around fully vaccinated animals is fine. Do not put in front yard because you do not know what has walked through that yard. You can get a garden sprayer and mix the name brand Clorox (as cheaper brands are not the same formulation) 1 cup to a gallon of water. Spray areas and let sit till dry. It does not kill grass. You can get an old towel and pour the solution on the towel. Put towel before people enter your home. Good if a lot of company is planned. Parvovirus can be tracked in by shoes contacting feces with parvovirus in the feces. Put pup up until the crowd leaves. Any questions please call us.
Puppy Food
We feed this Purina Pro plan to all our pups as well as pregnancy moms. We send some home in the pups going home bag. If you change food please mix what we give you to the same amount food you want pup to change to. When done with the mixture, your pup is on the new food. Not mixing and going straight to the new food causes diarrhea.
Containment
Your new pup is just a baby. You cannot let pup have free rein of your house. When you cannot watch, put pup up. If they are making circles they are about to pee or poop. Have a pad near when out of pen and one by the door. The example above, a laundry or bathroom, etc. are confinement areas. Take them out often. Stay out there a bit with pup because at first they are want to explore, play then they think to potty. What is eaten or liquids means take out 10 to 15 minutes afterward. Every 2 hours or less other times. It takes 16 weeks for a pup’s kidney to get big enough to hold pee for longer periods. The period between gets long everyday until 16 weeks.
How much and how often should a Miniature Schnauzer eat?
Schnauzers are prone to get pancreatitis. Too much fat, table scraps , too many fatty treats, etc.( pancreatitis can kill.) Check your ingredients in your dog food, also and to keep fat content around 10 percent for adult dogs. Purina Pro plan is 12. That is good and close to 10. Do not over feed as this causes them to get fat. Just like us, being over weight causes health problems.
Microchipping
Your pup is microchipped. Information about it and where to register it is in your paperwork. 24pet watch is biggest in the country. It is free to register.
Miniature Schnauzer Size
This is the normal weight of a Mini Schnauzer, plus or minus. We do not have toys or teacups. Their height is 12 to 14 inches from floor to top of the shoulders. There are 3 breeds of Schnauzer. They are Mini Schnauzer, Standard, and Giant.
